quilts

It is cooler here. Had to turn on heat this morning. But beautiful day today. I imagine some people are thinking about heading back to Texas soon. Don't forget your quilts and quilted items for our quilt show. We have a wedding to attend Dec 12 so will be after that before we get down there.

William Raymond Baas
6/9/31 - 9/22/2009

William "Bill" Baas passed away Tuesday evening at his home in Leisure World. Bill and Mary started journeying to the Valley, parking their RV in Raymondville, following Bill's retirement in 1994. They became full-time Leisure World residents in 2000. They made summer visits to Iowa to visit family and friends, with a memorable reunion with their children this past summer. Bll's health was increasingly fragile this past year, with fluid build up in the lungs particularly troublesome. We will miss Bill's quiet humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary and the family. Cards may be sent to 400 E 18th Street #722, Weslaco, TX 78596.

Breakfast Time Again

A goodly number of Leisure World residents got together for breakfast at the Frontier this morning. It was a rowdy bunch, but everyone had a good time. The food was good,the company superior! Rightfully, the breakfast was served in order of beauty...with the good looking individuals being served first. I guess that's why Jim Edwards was waiting so long!
<>President Gary was in rare form, at least the jokes were.


And even the checkout was a pleasant experience...good food and tiny prices! We'll go back for breakfast at the Frontier again.

Labor Day at Leisure World





The Labor Day holiday provided the opportunity for Association President Gary Bringham to host an Appreciation Dinner. Gary and Shirley said thanks to all the volunteers who have helped keep things running smoothly this summer by providing a "Hamburger 'N Hotdog" dinner for all the residents of Leisure World. Some 45 hungry souls gathered to show their appreciation for Gary and Shirley's generousity...and to sing Happy Birthday to the Bringhams, with Shirley celebrating today, and Gary tomorrow!
